FBI investigating ’attempted assassination’ of former President Donald Trump.

The Trump campiagn has reported that the former president is safe following "gunshots in his vicinity" while he was golfing at the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida.

According to AP and CNN, Secret Service agents opened fire on an armed suspect, who was later detained after fleeing the scene. Fox reports that the suspect did not take any shots towards Trump.

So far, little has been confirmed and more information is expected in the coming hours.

The FBI, Secret Service, and Local Law Enforcement will hold a Press Conference regarding the attempted Assassination of Former U.S. President Donald J. Trump at 4:30PM EST.

The suspect involved in the shooting at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, who was previously arrested by Martin County Sheriff's Deputies on I-95, is described as a white male in his mid-60s. Reports indicate that he was unarmed and remained calm during the arrest.

Suspect may have tried to film or stream the shooting.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Department revealed in a press conference that an AK-47 rifle with a scope, two backpacks filled with ceramic tiles, and a GoPro camera were found near the scene of the Trump shooting. Police now believe the GoPro camera, which was set up on a fence near the site, may have been intended to film or possibly livestream the suspect’s assassination attempt on former U.S. President Donald J. Trump. The initial incident, where U.S. Secret Service agents fired the first shots at the suspect, occurred 300-500 yards from where Trump was playing golf.

The identity of the would-be assassin of Trump has been identified as 58 year old Ryan Wesley Routh of Greensboro, North Carolina.

Details from law enforcement suggest the suspect was hiding in the bushes near the golf club Trump was attending - approximately 300-500 meters from the former president. The perpetrator was spotted by Secret Service agents, who opened fire on him, causing him to flee, abandoning his gear and getting into a car. He was soon after apprehended thanks to a witness's testimony.

Alleged shooter Ryan Routh's social media accounts show him as a staunch supporter of both Ukraine and Taiwan - possibly giving a nod to a motive for his attack on the former President. Several photos show him organizing recruitment drives for the Ukrainians.

Florida governor Ron DeSantis stated that the state of Florida will be launching it's own independent investigation of the assassination attempt. On X DeSantis wrote,“The State of Florida will be conducting its own investigation regarding the attempted assassination at Trump International Golf Club. The people deserve the truth about the would-be assassin and how he was able to get within 500 yards of the former president and current GOP nominee.” He called out the federal government for not being transparent enough on the details of the first attempt on the former President's life in July.
