Ahead of a large protest scheduled for Saturday, two primary leaders of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party have allegedly been arrested at the order of the government, the BNP is claiming. Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, the Secretary General of the BNP, as well as Mirza Abbas, a member of the BNP’s standing committee.
The party has claimed the two leaders were arrested at around 3AM local time on Friday morning. A protest is planned in Bangladesh’s capital city, Dhaka, for Saturday December 10th.
