A Taiwanese news agency reported that former Taiwanese President Ma Ying-jeou will likely meet with Chinese leader Xi Jinping in Beijing on April 8th. The meeting will reportedly occur as part of Ma’s trip leading a student delegation to Guangdong and Shaanxi Provinces and Beijing from April 1st to 11th.
While the Ma Ying-jeou Foundation did not say if the former president would meet Xi during the trip, Foundation Director Hsiao Hsu-tsen made a comment alluding to the possibility of a second meeting between Ma and Xi during a radio interview.
Hsiao said that Ma “of course hopes there is an opportunity to see an old friend” when talking about the first meeting between the two leaders in 2015.
