New Protests Occur in New Caledonia After France Arrests and Transfers Pro-Independence Leaders

On June 25th, various news outlets reported that new protests occurred in New Caledonia after French authorities transferred ten pro-independence leaders to mainland France.

The individuals are accused of organizing the protests that caused significant unrest on the island last month.

French law enforcement arrested the ten individuals during a raid on June 19th. On June 22nd, the island’s authorities indicted and transferred the individuals to France for trial.
