Union-2024 Joint Military Exercise Begins in Western Kazakhstan

On July 8th, Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Defense announced the start of the Union-2024 joint military exercise. The exercise will be held at the Oimasha Training Ground and Toqmaq Cape, located along the Capsian Sea in western Kazakhstan.

Military units from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan will participate in the exercise, slated to last from July 8th to July 17th.

The exercise will involve the five countries conducting various joint operations “on the localization of the armed conflict.” Units, including artillery, assault, aviation, naval special forces, naval vessels, and tank units, will conduct operations to liberate an island captured by conventional terrorists and participate in sea safety drills and operations to protect key infrastructure.

The announcement said approximately 4,000 personnel and 700 pieces of military equipment will participate in the exercise.
