On July 29th, the Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) surrounded and clashed with remaining Junta battalions near the Northeastern Command Headquarters in the city of Lashio, Shan State..The clashes occur after the Headquarters' Commanding General was reportedly killed in the fighting while his deputy fled to the town of Muse, located approximately 72 miles (117 kilometers) north of the city near the border with China. The Junta established a new headquarters inside the city, where the deputy is currently directing operations..The events come after the United Wa State Army (UWSA) deployed several units to the city on July 27th to protect its liaison office and properties. The Junta reportedly was not aware of the UWSA's deployment, while pro-regime outlets report that the two groups negotiated over the deployment.
