South Korean President Says He “Humbly Accepts” Election Results

South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol said he “humbly accepts” the results of last Wednesday’s general election, where his party, the People’s Power Party, lost to the Liberal Democratic Party, in a meeting with his cabinet members on Tuesday, April 16th.

Yoon opened his cabinet meeting with the following: “The government’s reason to exist is to help people in need and take care of their livelihood,” continuing with: “In that aspect, I humbly accept the public sentiment expressed through this general election.”

Yoon’s People’s Power Party received 108 votes, while the Liberal Democratic Party and its sister party won 175 seats in the 300-member National Assembly.
