Families of Nepalis Protest Outside Russian Embassy in Nepal

The families of Nepalis in the Russian Army involved in the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine have gathered at the Russian embassy in Kathmandu, Nepal, on Thursday, April 18th.

The protestors demanded compensation and the release of five Nepalis in custody by Ukrainian forces. Data suggests that around 200 families have filed separate complaints with the Russian government for the prisoner’s safe return.

Local police arrested 12 people around the southern entrance of Singha Durbar, Nepal’s main administrative center.

Although data isn’t very clear on how many Nepalis have died fighting, some estimates suggest around 32 have fallen thus far.
