This announcement will pit him against former ally and current Republican frontrunner Donald Trump in a highly anticipated showdown that has been building for weeks.
DeSantis has a video discussion scheduled for Wednesday evening with billionaire Elon Musk on Twitter, where he will likely go into further detail.
DeSantis has also repealed a law requiring him to resign from his governor’s position in Florida, signing the bill to repeal the “resign to run” law mere hours after officially submitting the paperwork to officially become a candidate for the Republican Party’s 2024 presidential nomination.
