Wayne LaPierre Resigns as CEO of NRA

Wayne LaPierre, the leader of the National Rifle Association, announced he is resigning, in the midst of a fraud trial expected today. LaPierre effectively made the NRA into the most powerful pro-Second Amendment lobbying group during his 3 decades as CEO. He has won against multiple attempts at his ouster, among scandals such as the one the NRA is currently experiencing. The New York AG Letitia James sued the organization under the charges that the leaders of the NRA used its nonprofit status to buy lavish goods for themselves. LaPierre himself has given approximately $1 million back to the NRA, court filings show.
