Attacks in Erbil Iraq kill UK/Iraqi Dual Citizen, Attack Condemned by UK at WEF

UK Foreign Secretary, David Cameron met Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian Today, January 17th 2024, at the World Economic Forum currently ongoing in Davos, Switzerland.

Cameron was quoted as saying he condemned the attacks claiming they violated the other states’ sovereignty, as well as condemning the Houthi attacking ships on the Red Sea, and stressed that Iran must utilize its influence to prevent future events. Iran is also said to supply weapons and intelligence to the Houthi Movement along with other  Islamic Extremist Groups.

The Attacks in Erbil took place on Monday, January 15th and claimed lives, notably that of a dual UK/Iraqi Citizen Karam Mikhail, along with well-known Kurdish businessman Pershraw Dizayee. The attacks were carried out by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC)-, and involved 11 ballistic missiles.

Erbil is in Northern Iraq and is the capital of the Kurdish region of Iraq . This region has fallen victim to strikes before, such as the one on March 13th, 2022.
