Maine Decision to Remove Trump from Ballot is on Hold

Maine Secretary of State Shenna Bellows put a ‘hold’ on a decision to bar Former President Donald J Trump from the Presidential ballot on December 29th, 2023  by Maine State Superior Court Judge Michaela Murphy.

This comes after a similar case in Colorado on December 19th, 2023, where Trump was barred from appearing on the ballot due to Section 3 of the 14th Amendment, which bars anyone from holding a position in public office if they participate in Insurrection or Rebellion.

This is in reference to the events on January 6th, 2021, where the Capital Building was breached. Trump and his staff appealed the decisions in Colorado and Maine, and now both remain on hold.

Currently the U.S. Supreme Court will hear arguments on February 8th, 2024.
