Indian Army Plans to Acquire, Deploy Artillery Along Chinese/Pakistani Border

The Indian Army (IA) plans to acquire around 300 Advanced Towed Artillery Gun System (ATAGS) howitzers for deployment along its northeastern borders with Pakistan and China.

The 307 systems will be deployed to units stationed in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh region to increase the IA’s overall readiness in the region.

Samir Kamath, head of the Defence Research and Development Organization, confirmed the system successfully completed all tests and is ready for operational deployment. Kamath also said that the first order of 307 ATAGS is expected to be placed by March 31st.
