Czech Republic to Acquire 5th Generation F-35 Jets

For the price of 150 billion Czech Koruna (around 6.6 billion in USD), the Czech Republic will purchase 24 Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II fighter jets.

The purchase is one of the largest in recent memory for the Czech military and will replace the 4th generation JAS39 purchased from Sweden.

Czech defense minister Jana Cernochová stated, “Our country and military will enter a whole new era.” They will be one of many NATO nations that have now fully adopted the F-35.

Initial shipments will arrive in 2031, with the remainder being delivered by 2035. This deal has been a topic of discussion between the United States and the Czech Republic since the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine.
