South Korean authorities have launched an investigation against Indonesian engineers sent to Korean Aerospace Industries (KAI) after allegations emerged of them stealing technologies related to the KF-21 Boramae aircraft on a USB drive. These allegations came out yesterday.
South Korean authorities have barred the Indonesians from leaving the country until the Defense Acquisition Program Administration concludes its investigation.
Indonesia is a partner on the KF-21 project and is expected to fund 20% of the total cost, amounting to around 8.8 trillion won, or 6.5 billion USD. Although 278.3 billion won was paid, the payments are still 1 trillion won behind.
KAI is expected to begin production of 120 KF-21s by 2032.
