India to Develop Three New Special Mission Aircraft

India will likely approve a proposal to expand their fleet of special mission aircraft by three units sometime next week.

These aircraft will be capable of monitoring enemy communications, conducting long-range surveillance missions, conducting signals intelligence operations, and jamming enemy communications.

The Defense Research and Development Laboratory and the Indian Air Force are leading this project and will use the Airbus-319 aircraft with equipment mostly manufactured in India.
