Emirati Soldiers Killed in Somalia Identified

The UAE Ministry of Defense has released the names of the four personnel killed in Somalia on February 10. Colonel Muhammad Mansouri, Warrant Officer Mohammed Al-Shamsi, Warrant Officer Khalifa Al-Balushi, and Corporal Sulaiman Al-Shahi were killed during a terrorist attack while training Somali forces at Camp Gordon in Mogadishu. The attack, described as ‘terrorist activity’ by the UAE Ministry of Defense, also claimed the life of a Bahraini Defense Force officer.

The training mission is part of a bi-lateral agreement between the UAE and Somalia, which serves to enhance military cooperation between the two nations. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, President of Somalia, expressed strong condemnation for the attack and praised the UAE’s contributions towards liberating Somalia from terrorism.
