Shehbaz Sharif Nominated as Pakistani Prime Minister

The Pakistani Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) held a meeting in Islamabad with party leader Nawaz Sharif on February 28th, where they nominated Nawaz’s younger brother and former Prime Minister (PM), Shehbaz Sharif, for the position.

If selected as PM, it would be the second time that Shehbaz has served as Pakistan’s PM, with his first term lasting from April 2022 to August 2023. The PML-N also nominated party leader Sardar Ayaz Sadiq for the position of Assembly Speaker during the meeting.

The nominations come one day before the inaugural session of the New National Assembly will occur.
