Myanmar Junta Confirms Death of Militia Leader in Kachin State

The Myanmar Junta has confirmed the death of Shwe Min, head of the Lisu People’s Militia, killed near Augmaethit village in Waimaw township, located in southern Kachin State, this morning around 9:30 a.m. local time.

Authorities said that Min and three other militiamen were killed during a morning battle with the Kachin Independence Army’s (KIA) 5th Brigade. His body has reportedly not been recovered by either the LPM or the Junta.

There were earlier reports that Min was killed in an ambush near the village of Hkashi, also located in Wainaw township.

Min played a significant role in operations against the KIA in Kachin State, according to Myanmar state media.
