Chinese Conclude Joint Exercises Near Taiwan

The People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Navy and Air Force Eastern Theater Command recently finished a series of joint combat exercises with the China Coast Guard (CCG) on Monday, March 18th.

The drill featured the People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) vessels joined by CCG ships and aircraft likely from the People’s Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF).

The PLAN and CCG ships simulated air defense, close-in weapons systems (CIWS) response to missiles, targeting enemy aircraft, and disarming enemy sea mines.

The PLAN released the statement: “Focused on the joint operation among the naval task force, the air force, and the coast guard, the exercise amplified emergency scenarios to the strictest and the most difficult settings, and effectively enhanced the forces’ interoperability and joint strike capabilities.”

China reformed it’s armed forces and has plans to conduct more joint operations.
