New Mon State Party Issues Statement Over Junta Shelling Village

The New Mon State Party-Anti Dictatorship (NMSP-AD) stated the shelling of the Dhammatha Village within the Kyaikmaraw Township from a warship of the junta navy sitting in the Gyaing River around 3:00 p.m. local time on March 28th.

The shelling reportedly took place after fighting between local resistance groups and the local police. At the end of hostilities, twenty-three police officers allegedly surrendered to members of the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA).

Fighter jets were also said to be spotted doing additional strikes.

Reports suggested around three hundred homes were burned down, and many civilians were reportedly injured, although the exact numbers of wounded and killed are currently unknown at this time.
