Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. directed the creation of an amnesty program for the remaining Communist Party of the Philippines – New People’s Army – National Democratic Front members to surrender. Marcos announced the directive after the 5th Execom Meeting of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) on April 4th.
National Security Advisor Eduardo Ano said the “President has directed the immediate implementation of the Amnesty Program for the remaining members” since Congress already agreed with the proclamation.
Marcos also reiterated the directive he made in 2023 for agencies to activate their Project Development Officers to implement the projects related to the NTF-ELCAC at the barangay level.
The NTF-ELCAC will also propose programs and projects to implement the projects for 5,430 barangays that have been part of the Barangay Development Plan program since it began.
