Pakistani Prime Minister Meets with Saudi Crown Prince During Saudi Arabia Trip

Pakistani Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif met with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on April 7th after attending an iftar dinner in Makkah (Mecca). Sharif arrived in Saudi Arabia on April 6th for a three-day visit to the kingdom, his first foreign trip since his election to PM.

The Bahraini PM and Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad bin Isa al Khalifa also attended the same iftar dinner.

During the bilateral meeting after the dinner, both Sharif and Salman said they “appreciated the upward trajectory of longstanding fraternal relations and reaffirmed the resolve to further strengthen bilateral ties.”

Pakistani Foreign Affairs Minister Ishaq Dar, Defence Minister Khawaja Mohammad Asif, Information Minister Ataullah Tarar, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif also accompanied the PM on the trip.

The PM’s Office said that the PM and his cabinet traveled to Mecca to perform Umrah.
