India has reportedly been invited to join the United Kingdom’s 6th generation fighter program to develop the Tempest, led by BAE systems.
India will need to invest around $7.5 billion USD as its share of the project.
The Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) is a program by India to develop fifth-generation aircraft of domestic design. The current budget for the AMCA is $2 billion USD.
The Tempest will be a sixth-generation fighter aircraft projected to be introduced around 2035 to replace the Eurofighter Typhoon.
