Enforcement Directorate Accuses Delhi Chief Minister of Trying to Get Bail

India’s Enforcement Directorate (ED) accused Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, a type 2 diabetic, of consuming fruits, tea with sugar, and various sweets to raise blood sugar, which allegedly served as grounds to receive bail on Thursday, April 18th.

Sources inside the Tihar Jail, where the national coordinator of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is imprisoned, reported that fruit and sweets are being sent from his estate, as he is allowed to eat food cooked at home.

“A diet chart has been placed before the court. He was particularly consuming sweet food, which is not permitted for diabetic patients. The matter is pending before the court,” Special Counsel Zoheb Hossain of the ED said in a report on Thursday, April 18.

The ED stated this before a Special PMLA court following a statement from Kejriwal, who filed a plea deal, asking for regular checkups from his doctor via telehealth.

Hossian alleged that this is the foundation for a bail claim.
