Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Commodore Jay Tarriela held a press conference on Monday, April 29th, urging people to fight misinformation about the South China Sea (West Philippine Sea) posted online by “Chinese trolls.”
“Since we started this transparency [campaign] from February until now, the mere fact that the Chinese government is intensifying information operations means we are very effective,” Tarriela said to members of the local media.
National Security Council Assistant Director General Jonathan Malaya claimed that the Philippines is doing well to counter efforts made by China, but the false information campaign poses a challenge to South China Sea(West Philippine Sea) matters.
