On Europe Day, May 9, European Parliament’s president Roberta Metsola, visited Kyiv to meet with President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Her visit marked the international summit of cities and regions held in the Ukrainian capital, where she reiterated the EU’s unwavering support for Ukraine. Metsola emphasized the strong partnership between the EU and Ukraine, calling it a shared path toward victory. She reaffirmed her commitment to seeing Ukraine become a full member of the European Union.
During the summit, Zelensky highlighted the importance of supporting Ukraine, noting that the war is at Europe’s doorstep and that assistance is crucial to ensuring peace on the continent. He emphasized that this cooperation is vital to defeating any notion of war in Europe.
Later in the day, Metsola delivered a speech at the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine’s parliament, reaffirming again the European Parliament’s solidarity with Ukraine.
