Russian Offensive in Kharkiv: 6 Villages Seized and 1,700 Civilians Evacuated

On May 11 2024, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that Russian forces achieved territorial gains in the Kharkiv Oblast, following a recent massive offensive in the region.

The Russian Ministry of Defense claimed on Telegram the seizing of 6 villages including Borisovka, Ogurtsovo, Pletenevka, Pylnaya, and Strelechya. The report also states that Russian forces inflicted casualties on multiple Ukrainian brigades defending the zone, asserting the capture of 34 Ukrainian soldiers, and the loss of up to 170 troops, tanks, and various military vehicles on the Ukrainian side.

In addition, the statement claims the destruction of military hardware, including Czech-made “Vampire” rocket systems, French “Caesar” artillery units, and the Ukrainian “Bogdana” artillery installation.

Earlier this morning, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that Ukrainian forces faced 104 combat engagements in the last 24 hours across the whole country’s territory, with a concentration of aerial attacks on the Sumy, Donetsk and Kharkiv Oblasts

In response to intensified shelling in the Kharkiv region, Ukrainian officials say that 1,700 residents have been evacuated as Ukrainian authorities declared a nationwide air alert.
