China-Mediated Talks Between Junta and 3 Brotherhood Alliance Reportedly Occur

China’s Foreign Affairs Ministry (FAM) stated during its daily press conference that members of the 3 Brotherhood Alliance and the Junta held talks in Yunnan province.

FAM spokesperson Wang Wenbin responded to a reporter’s question about rumors that China is hosting and mediating talks between the two sides.

The talks reportedly focus on reestablishing cross-border trade between China and Myanmar and extending the Haigeng Ceasefire Agreement to Rakhine State.

Local reports also indicate that the talks occurred as fighting broke out between the Junta, the Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army, and the Ta’ang National Liberation Army.
