Suspended Deputy Police Chief Collected 16,000 Signatures to Impeach NACC Commissioner

On May 26th, the former Deputy Chief for the Royal Thai Police (RTP), Police General Surachate Hakparn, said that he gathered approximately 16,000 signatures needed to support the petition to impeach a National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) commissioner.

Surachate said previously that he would not name the commissioner until he acquired the necessary 20,000 signatures to support the impeachment petition. However, it is known that he is attempting to remove the current NACC commissioner, Suchart Trakulkasemsuk.

Surachate accused Suchart of having a personal grudge against him that led to his suspension by an RTP committee after he was accused of money laundering charges related to an online gambling group.

On May 16th, he gave the petition to Parliament Speaker Wan Muhamad Noor Matha and said he would obtain the 20,000 signatures.
