Four instructors from Cornell College, located in Mount Vernon, Iowa, were stabbed by an unknown individual while touring Beishan Park.
The attack occurred when an unidentified individual stabbed the four individuals “during the weekend.” However, it is unknown if local enforcement arrested the individual. A faculty member from Beihua University was accompanying the instructors at the time of the attack.
Videos of the four individuals laying on the ground after the stabbing were posted on Chinese social media sites before censors removed them. However, some of the videos are still on western social media apps.
The instructors were in China, visiting Beihua University as part of a partnership between the two universities.
U.S. Representative Ashley Hinson said her team is in communication with the college and working to “do everything in our power to bring” the instructors safely home.
