Guam Asks for Extension for Missile Testing Submissions

Acting Governor of Guam, Joshua Tenorio, asked Lieutenant General Heath Collins of the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) and requested a 60-day extension, compared to the 30 days initially offered.

Tenorio brought up concerns over the affected landowners and residents, as the island is home to around 170,000 people and a United States military base.

“I am most especially concerned about any impacts on land owners, including the possibility of the need to evacuate their properties during testing,” Tenorio stated.

Pacific Center for Island Security (PCIS) chair Robert Underwood agreed with the extension, stating the community deserved better discussions about the tests.
