North Korea Convenes Plenary Session of the 8th Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea

On June 29th, North Korea convened the 10th Plenary Session of the 8th Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK) in Pyongyang.

On the meeting’s first day, the Politburo of the Central Committee of the WPK elected the government’s executive branch. The Politburo also delegated the meeting’s presidency to North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

The meeting members will discuss the state situation for the first half of the year as well as discuss and decide on other important issues related to increasing the “comprehensive development of Korean-style socialism.”

The WPK’s Central Committee approved the five agenda items by “unanimous consent,” and the legislative discussion is underway. The announcement did not have any additional details about the five agenda items.
