Stabbing Incident at University of Sydney; NSW Police Arrest 14-Year Old Boy

The New South Wales (NSW) Police responded to a stabbing incident at the University of Sydney on July 2nd.

Several police and ambulance units responded to the incident along Western Avenue, which runs through the middle of the university campus.

Paramedics took a 22-year-old individual to a local hospital, where he is listed as serious by stable condition. The university placed several campus buildings on lockdown as police officers secured the scene.

NSW Police arrested a 14-year-old individual near Royal Prince Alfred Hospital after he fled the crime scene. A police spokesperson said the individuals were unknown to each other and “there is no ongoing risk to the public.”

University staff said that there is an increased security and police presence on campus while the police continue to investigate the incident.
