Two Armenian Soldiers Killed in Azerbaijani Drone Strike

Two Armenian soldiers were killed during an Azerbaijani drone strike amid clashes along the NagornoKarabkh border near Verin Shorzha in Gegharkunik earlier today. The drone that was used was likely a Turkish-built TB-2, which saw extensive use during the 2020 NK war. Several other Armenian troops were also wounded during the clashes, which included small arms and artillery fire. Azerbaijan casualties are unknown at this time.

Nagorno-Karabakh is a disputed territory, internationally recognized as part of Azerbaijan, but most of it is governed by the unrecognized Republic of Artsakh (also known as the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR)) since the first Nagorno-Karabakh War. Since the end of the war in 1994, representatives of the governments of Armenia and Azerbaijan have been holding peace talks mediated by the OSCE Minsk Group on the region’s disputed status.
