Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced that a Ukrainian delegation will meet with a Russian delegation without preconditions on the border with Belarus near the Pripyat River. The meeting was set after Zelensky made a phone call with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko.

Original peace talks were agreed upon days earlier, however, there was a refusal to meet Russian delegations in Gomel, Belarus. Ukrainian President Zelensky stated that Ukraine is committed to peace, but refused to accept negotiations that are being held in Belarus, further saying “Warsaw, Istanbul, Baku – we offered Russia to hold talks in these cities or any other city where missiles aren’t being launched at Ukraine.” As the original peace talk was then refused, Ukrainian officials say they intercepted a cruise missile heading towards Kyiv that was launched over Belarus from a Russian Tupolev Tu-22 bomber. Belarusian forces have also been actively aiding in Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
