India Issues NOTAM for Upcoming Missile Test

On March 13th, Indian officials from the Defense Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Strategic Command Forces will carry out a missile test, likely to be a K-4 or K-5 Submarine-Launched Ballistic Missiles or an Agni-3 or Agni-4 ballistic missiles.

Monitoring the launch is the Chinese vessel Xiang Yang Hong 01, which currently rests off India’s eastern coast, near the city of Visakhapatnam, also known as Vizag.

The ship, according to AIS tracking, is maintaining a speed of 0.2 knots (0.23 Mph). Acknowledging this, India issued two Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs) outlining two areas measuring approximately 2,174 miles (3,500 km).

The vessel has been in the area since March 10th and was in the area for the March 11th test of the Agni-5 Intercontinental Ballistic Missile.
