77% of Young Taiwanese Willing to Fight for Taiwan

On April 22, it was reported by Taiwan News that 77% of young Taiwanese are willing to fight for their country.

In 2024, Taiwan lengthened its compulsory military service from four months to one year, according to Taiwan News.

Taiwan has 169,000 active duty military personnel, whereas China has 2 million.

This comes as tension between China and the United States has rapidly increased in the last two years, according to the Center for Strategic and International Studies.

China has “transformed itself from a large but antiquated force into a capable, modern military” according to RAND Corporation.

According to Bloomberg, China will be ready to invade Taiwan by 2027, according to the testimony of a U.S. admiral.
