Five Iraqi Soldiers, Including a Lieutenant Colonel, Killed During ISIS Attack in Saladin

Iraqi media have reported that at least five soldiers, including a lieutenant colonel, were killed on Monday during an Islamic State (ISIS) attack in Saladin province, which remains a hotbed for jihadist cell activity.

According to Kurdistan24, militants targeted the security forces during a doubled suicide bombing in the village of al-Asba’iyat, which also left eight other soldiers wounded.

The Iraqi Ministry of Defense identified the lieutenant colonel as Khaled Haji al-Alwani, commander of the Iraqi 21st Infantry Division, 2nd Regiment.
