Russian National Arrested with Explosives near Paris, France

According to Le Monde, a Russian national was arrested on June 3rd, 2024 near Paris France with explosives. He was reportedly part of a large Russian sabotage network targeting several European countries. This publication has already published reports of Russian agents being arrested in Poland and Germany for conspiring to carry out sabotage against NATO munitions factories and storage as well as a plot to assassinate the Ukrainian President.

Le Monde reports that the 26-year-old Russian-Ukrainian was arrested after an explosion in his hotel near Charles de Gaulle airport on June 3 left him wounded. The man was attempting to make explosives to target a hardware store north of Paris. The hardware store is not a strategic military target.

While in the hospital, the General Directorate of Internal Security (DGSI) found forged identity papers, explosive-making materials, and other suspicious items that led to the arrest. The man is reportedly from the Donbass area in Ukraine which is currently under Russian occupation.
