Update (0946 EST): The driver has reportedly claimed that his Genesis sedan experienced “sudden acceleration” which caused the accident.
At approximately 0920 EST, initial reports indicated that at least six people were killed and nine were injured after a vehicle plowed through a crowd near City Hall Station in Jung-gu, Seoul, South Korea.
As of this publication, police have detained the driver and an investigation is underway. Initial reports indicate that the driver is being investigated under suspicion of drunk driving, he has been reported to be elderly. He is reportedly a commercial transportation drive.
