Several people were injured today after a pickup truck rammed into a crowd of pedestrians in the Québec town of Amqui. It isn’t known exactly how many people have been injured, however Amqui hospital has issued a « code orange », which is done when 6 or more people are admitted from one incident. Some of those inured are said to be in critical condition. The driver of the truck was arrested, and an investigation is presently underway.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Québec Premier François Legault both offered their condolences via twitter.
My heart is with the people of Amqui, Quebec today. As we learn more about the tragic events that have taken place, I’m keeping everyone affected in my thoughts. And to the first responders: Thank you for acting quickly, courageously, and professionally.
