Canada has designated Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization, Public Safety Minister Dominic LeBlanc announced on Wednesday.
“The Iranian regime has consistently displayed disregard for human rights, both inside and outside of Iran, as well as a willingness to destabilize the international rules-based order,” LeBlanc said.

The decision comes amid months of internal political pressure. Last month, the Canadian House of Commons unanimously voted in a non-binding motion to designate the IRGC as a terrorist organization.
