At approximately 0646 EST, initial reports indicated that a large fire had engulfed a five-story apartment building on the 460 Block of Broome Street in Lower Manhattan, New York.

A two-alarm fire had been declared by 0700 EST as smoke and flames could be seen emanating from the roof and upper stories.

As of this publication it is not clear if there have been any casualties, and the fire is not under control.
Ladder 8 in Soho would be the first due to this neighborhood, followed by Engine 7 and Tower Ladder 1 near Church Street and Broadway.
