Fire at Golden Plaza Horizonte, La Victoria, Peru

Update (1541 EST): Local media are reporting that all 42 people have been evacuated from the complex and 4 are being treated for smoke inhalation. The Peruvian Interior Minister said that a short circuit on a sewing machine caused the fire.

At least 40 people have been seen hanging out of windows of the Golden Plaza Horizonte in La Victoria, Peru. The fire started about 50 minutes ago and is still not under control. There have been no reports of jumpers yet but the situation seems dire. The above picture shows civilians on the 9th floor.

The Golden Plaza Horizonte is described as a commercial center with a variety of shops and offices on the upper floors of the complex. There are also restaurants in the building.
