U.S. Embassy in Georgia Evacuated Due to Bomb Threat

Update (1121 EST): A black bag was reportedly removed from the Embassy by security personnel.

U.S. Embassy officials have confirmed to local Georgian Media that local security forces are responding to secure the perimeter of the embassy grounds while internal security conducts a sweep for an explosive device. The embassy is in Tbilisi, Georgia.

The statement to local media reads “The US Embassy appreciates the support and cooperation provided by the Georgian law enforcement agencies, in terms of responding to the security issue in the territory of the embassy today”
