Breaking: Jury Recommends Life Sentence to Parkland Shooter Nikolas Cruz

Date:

The jury in the trial of Parkland shooter Nikolas Cruz reached a decision and has recommended life in prison after unable to unanimously decide on the death penalty on all counts.

The jury could not unanimously find that the aggravating factors to warrant the death penalty outweighed the mitigating circumstances for any of the victims.

Sentencing is set for November 1.

Nikolas Cruz previously pleaded guilty for the February 14, 2018, mass shooting at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, in which 14 students and three school staff members were killed, and 17 others were wounded. He was charged with 17 counts of murder and 17 counts of attempted murder.
