The Russian State Duma has proposed a bill which gives the government an unprecedented power to ban “LGBTQ propaganda” in the Russian Federation. According to Alexander Khinshtein, from Samara and a member of the 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th State Dumas, currently a member of the 8th State Duma, this bill will allow Russia to deport foreign nationals who spread LGBTQ propaganda.

This bill, if passed will target groups like Pussy Riot who have already drawn considerable ire and crackdowns by Russian Security Forces for demonstrations throughout Russia. During President Putin’s speech annexing four Ukrainian Oblasts in September, the President specifically went after “western ideologies” of transgendered people.
