Russian Ministry of Defense Building Reportedly on Fire

Update (1352 EST): The fire, which reached about 60m^2 of space inside one of the building of the MoD complex, has been contained. More than fifty personnel were evacuated.

According to Russian-state-owned media, a fire has broken out at the Ministry of Defense Headquarters in Moscow. It is reportedly a second-alarm fire. The initial report reads below:

At 19 Znamenka Street, a fire started in one of the buildings on the territory of the Ministry of Defense. Intense burning is observed from a window on the third floor,” the agency’s interlocutor said.

According to him, the fire was assigned the second (increased) number of complexity out of five possible. It is established that the fire area is also on fire. “On the burning floor – thick smoke and high temperature,” – said the representative of the emergency services.”

This is reminiscent of the 2016 fire at the headquarters which caused a partial roof collapse. This is developing.
