Update (1809 EST): authorities have issued a General Alarm, the highest rating for an emergency situation for the currently uncontrolled fire.

The Manila Central Post Office is currently on fire. The fire has been raised to a Task Force Delta, one level below the highest classification, Echo.

The fire began around 1200 EST and has been burning for about six hours.

The Manila Central Post Office, often called the Post Office Building, is the main postal office of Manila, which also serves as the home of the Philippine Postal Corporation. It also houses the main mail sorting-distribution operations of the Philippines.
